OAKLANDS WOLVES NETBALL ACADEMY
CREATING & DEVELOPING TOP NETBALLERS
Oaklands College, in association with Saracens Mavericks and the University of Hertfordshire has developed the Oaklands Wolves Netball Academy which provides an outstanding educational opportunity combining both academic and sporting performance in a high quality educational and sporting environment.
The programme is aimed at talented netball players aged 16 years and over who are already playing at a good standard and are committed to improving their netball skills and abilities, while gaining further academic qualifications by studying on a variety of academic programmes, including A levels or BTECs.
The programme is based at the St Albans Campus and enables players to combine daily netball coaching sessions with their academic studies. The player focused programme encourages student athletes to improve as individuals and as team players, to develop their game knowledge and understanding and equally importantly, complete an appropriate academic course of study.

I deliver guest Junior Elite sessions for Club too I have been involved from the beginning of the Oakland’s Netball Academy Provision which was established in 2012 and we have supported Elite and Participation Netballers develop their Netball Skill whilst gaining qualifications.
SOPHIE WELSH, COACH, BASKETBALL ACADEMY
I started playing Netball as a typical younger sister following in her big sisters footsteps by joining the local Netball club. 19 years later here I am still an active player persuing Netball as a career. I joined the Oaklands Netball Academy team after graduating with a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport Studies from University of Herefordshire in 2013. My role is to support Elite and Participation netballers to develop their Netball skills whilst gaining their qualifications. I was fortunate to gain experience in Performance Analysis at my time at Uni, which I feel is an important tool that I use within my coaching. I gained my Level 2 qualification as soon as I was old enough and have delivered weekly sessions ever since. Currently I am a Senior Team Club Coach but in my time have coached a variety of ages and abilities.
