Oaklands Wolves Netball win East Regional Tournament for the third year in a row!

On Wednesday 29th November, the Netball Academy arrived at Cambridge Regional College where the East Regional Tournament was held. Oaklands were roaring to go as soon as they turned up, getting straight into the warmup after a long Coach journey.

The first Game was against the home side, Cambridge Regional College. The Wolves were off to an amazing start, dominating the court all game showing that they were there to win it all. The first game ended in a massive 34 – 1 win to Oaklands Wolves.

Second game in and the Wolves were up against Long Rod Sixth Form College. Like the first game, Oaklands Wolves left nothing on the court, every player putting in their best efforts to get up and down the court to win every point they could. The second game ended in a 21 – 2 victory for the wolves.

Two games down, three more to go and Oaklands Wolves was not stopping any time soon. After two back-to-back wins, when it was time for their third game of the day, they knew they had to keep their momentum up if they were wanting to get to the finals. The third game was against USP Storm in which Oaklands brought fire to the court. Point after point, the wolves would not stop scoring putting the game to bed with yet another win ending 24 – 2.

Game four was against Hills Road and the girls knew this would be a tough game. Hills Road were looking to end the Wolves win streak this game after seeing how well they were playing. From the first whistle, Hills Road were off to a good start, giving Oaklands something to compete against. Both sides were fighting to try and take the win. Both teams were racking points up on the scoreboard and at the final whistle both teams were even at 16 – 16. Oaklands still remail unbeaten in the tournament.

The last game of the day and Oaklands have this one last push to secure their place for the finals. Oaklands start strong taking the lead against Colchester sixth form. Colchester were not giving in gaining a few points. Oaklands put the back burners on and stormed ahead leaving Colchester for dust. Last game of the tournament ended 20 – 9 making Oaklands Wolves unbeaten in the East Regional Tournament.

Oaklands Wolves Netball have for the third Consecutive year won the East Regional Tournament and earnt their place once again in the Regional Finals happening in April next year.
